Established in 1722, Northampton Township began as a farming community covering 26.5 square miles northeast of Philadelphia.  Since then the township has grown to nearly 40,000 residence.

The township is made up of the following four unincorporated communities:
  • Churchville
  • Holland
  • Ivyland
  • Richboro
Though Richboro is the largest business center, there are small and unique villages within each of the communities.

Northampton Township is home to many great parks and recreational facilities including the Northampton Swim Club and Northampton Valley Country Club.  In addition, residents aged 55 and better can enjoy time at the Northampton James E. Kinney Senior Center

Holland is home to Village Shires, one of the area's largest planned communities with nearly 4,000 residents.

Students in Northampton Township attend public school in the Council Rock School District.
